It’s a Wrap! And Delicious, too.

Halloween is Wednesday and while the kids want to eat nothing but candy why not serve something fun, festive and filling before they go off pillaging for treats. These hot dog mummies are easy to make and they look great on a plate. If you are having a party they would make a great addition to the rest of your spooky fare.

This recipe was another great idea from spoonful.com. You can find the link here and I’ve included the recipe below. I’ll be making some hot dog mummies for my family on Halloween. I hope you do something as fun and special for yours. Happiness squared.

Hot Dog Mummies (from www.spoonful.com)

Ingredients:

11-ounce can of refrigerator breadsticks
1 12-pack of hot dogs
Yellow mustard

Directions:

For each mummy, separate one breadstick from the roll and use kitchen shears or a knife to slice it in half lengthwise to create two thinner strips.

Wrap one strip at a time snugly around the hot dog. Depending on the size of the hot dog, you may not need all of both strips. Leave about 1/2 inch of hot dog exposed for the face area and continue wrapping the top of the hot dog. (See the photo.)

Bake the mummies on a cookie sheet at 350Âș for 15 to 18 minutes or until the breadstick wrapping is golden brown.

Remove the mummies from the oven and cool them for 5 minutes. Add yellow mustard eyes just before serving. Makes 12 mummies.
