In the previous post, 10 Ways to Build Anticipation, I provided ideas that would enhance your anticipation during the weeks before your Disney trip. But what about the start of the trip? Do you get so absorbed and stressed with last minute details that you forget that you are going so you can have fun? Here are five tips to help you have a happy start to a happy trip. Hey, that’s happiness squared!
1) Have a list. Don’t rely on your memory. Write down everything that needs to be done so you can check it off and be happy knowing you didn’t forget anything.
2) Be proactive. Don’t pack a half hour before you have to leave. Pack the night before so you have plenty of time to do last minute laundry and find those missing items.
3) Turn up the music. As you pack and double-check your list put on some Disney tunes. Follow Snow White’s example and whistle while you work.
4) Wear something Disney. Get in the mood of the trip by wearing a Goofy T-shirt or your favorite Mickey Mouse cap. There are lots of great deals at www.disneystore.com. Pass out new T-shirts before the trip starts and everyone will be grinning.
5) Leave plenty of time. Whether you are driving to the park or to the airport leave with time to spare. You may have to wait once you get there, but that is much better than missing the rope drop, or running for your plane.
A trip to the Disney parks is a magical event. Spread some pixie dust early and the fun will fly before, during, and after your visit.
Goofy Tip: Hand out a fun and useful gift to start things off right. Get everyone a new tag for their luggage. Amazon has many different Disney styles and if you write your information on the tags at home you don’t have to do the tag dance* at check-in at the airport.
*Tag dance – That frantic movement that is done at check-in where you are desperately trying to find a pen to fill out the free tags while the airline employees and one hundred travelers behind you wait impatiently for you to label your luggage.
