I wanted to do a post about the hidden gems of the World Showcase in EPCOT, but I could not decide which gem to write about so I am going to do a series of posts called World Showcase Wonders. I’ll highlight one gem in each pavilion. These are features that people might not notice as they hurry from store to store and restaurant to restaurant. At the end of this series I’ll have a downloadable brochure that you can print out and take to the parks so you can see of these gems for yourself. Today we are in Italy.
I like all the pavilions, but the Italy Pavilion is at the bottom of my list of places to visit. It has beautiful architecture and great Italian food, but so what? Lots of places in the World Showcase have interesting buildings and amazing food. What sets Italy apart? What hidden gem does it have?
As we walk around the World Showcase most of us focus on the buildings and never notice the water. I know I do. The Italy Pavilion is designed to be like Venice, so it the perfect spot to slow down and enjoy the view across the Lagoon. Instead of going into the buildings, walk to the water. There are lovely bridges to cross and a picturesque area perfect for enjoying a restful moment. Any time you can step away from the crowds and enjoy a little peace and quiet with a great view is a great hidden gem.
Goofy Trivia: Lady and the Tramp is a wonderful film filled with Italian romance. It originally came out in 1955 and has been re-released this year. Disney has a fun website filled with trivia, games, previews, and more featuring everyone’s favorite canine couple.
