If you like your dining on the wild side check out a Rainforest Café. If you like your dining on the prehistoric side check out the T-REX Cafe at Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World. This restaurant is broken up into different time periods so you can pick your favorite. A giant moving octopus reigns over the undersea area. The ice age area has a woolly mammoth who shakes its head, and color changing ice caves. My favorite is the Cretaceous area. This area has a pterodactyl that cries out and flaps its wings, a tyrannosaurus rex that roars and gnashes its teeth, and a stately stegasaurus. I love watching the meteor shower that races across the ceiling every few minutes marking the end for the dinosaurs, but not for our meal. It is not quiet, but it is highly entertaining.
In addition to amazing décor the food is really good, too. I had a Gigantosaurus Burger that was huge and juicy. Other menu items include Brachiosaurus Bruschetta, Layers of the Earth Lasagna, and prehistoric pizzas. There is something delicious for everyone. They also have a fun kids menu and an a amazing dessert called Chocolate Extinction. Sign me up!
Besides a great restaurant there is also the Paleo Zone, an interactive dinosaur play area, and the Dino-store that is full of educational toys and cool clothing. This is not just a place to eat lunch. It is a destination not to be missed.
Any child who likes noise would love to eat at T-Rex, but I think this is the restaurant for anyone who never got over dinosaurs. I give it 5 Goofys!
Goofy Tip: Order a fun momento with your meal. Several of the drinks at T-REX come in a glass that lights up and you can take it home. Start a collection and have a prehistoric meal in your own home. Happiness squared.
