I will rarely tell you that not doing something will make you happier, but it is true in this case. Disney sells dozens of hats for every character and ride. As you walk through the stores you will laugh and think owning a wild Disney hat would make your trip complete. Stop! Back away from the hat. Take a deep breath and think.
You may enjoy the hat the day you buy it, but what are you going to do with it when you get home? Will it fit in your suitcase if necessary? Is it really an item that is going to bring back memories of a great trip or will it remind you of how uncomfortable you were wearing pounds of foam on your head during a hot and humid day. Oh, but the urge is still there, what to do?!?
Here’s a way to have a great memory without the expense or regret. Put on the hat and have someone take a picture of you. When you get home you can have a good laugh when you see yourself with a birthday cake hat on your head and you can congratulate yourself that you don’t have a birthday cake hat in your bedroom. Now, I am not suggesting that you don’t buy a hat. That would be un-Disney. Buying an ear hat would be totally Disney. They come in dozens of designs and you can even assemble your own. It is fun, inexpensive, and a great way to fulfill that hat buying urge. Ears make for happy memories!
Goofy Tip: Even better than an ear hat is a baseball cap. You can wear it often after your trip making it a great value. Also, every time you wear it you will be reminded of the great vacation you had. And no hat remorse.
