Don’t Forget to Complete your Disney Vacation Journal

Don’t be goofy. Type your journal.

In my group I am the journal keeper when we vacation at the Disney parks. I write notes in a small book during the trip to remind myself of all the great rides we went on and all the delicious food we ate. I hope someone in your group keeps a journal, too. It makes it so much easier to create a scrapbook when you have all the details out of your head.

Journaling is a two-part process and it is often the second part that gets neglected. When you are taking notes in the park they are often brief and abbreviated. For example, since I know I can get menus of all the restaurants that we ate at online I do not describe in detail what everyone enjoyed. But, if I don’t expand my journal when I get home those notes will eventually mean nothing.

So I suggest that within a week of getting home you type out your notes and expand where necessary. I like to turn my notes into a story with complete sentences. Other people may like to make a bulleted list. The format doesn’t matter as long as all the memories are there. Once your journal is typed you can email it to everyone in your group. They may not want to keep a journal of their own, but they will appreciate having a record of the trip. Happiness Squared.

Goofy Tip: When typing your journal use the complete names for the attractions. I know this sounds unimportant, but Disney not only changes attractions, they change the names of attractions. A huge example is Disney California Adventure. When it opened it was called Disney’s California Adventure. The “‘s” is a minor change, but it makes your journal more date specific because you’ll know you were there at a certain time in Disney history.
