During my trip to the Disneyland Resort over Labor Day weekend I was given lots of advice by Cast Members about Cars Land. They all agreed it was not to be missed (they were right) and they all agreed that we should arrive as early as possible (they were right again). However, until I actually visited I didn’t know all the ins and outs of exploring this new area of Disney California Adventure, so here are three helpful tips to improve your visit to Cars Land.
3 quick tips for visiting Cars Land:
1) Arrive as early as possible. If you can take advantage of Extra Magic Hours at Disney California Adventure then do. You can line up at the gate a half hour before early opening, but show up 15 minutes earlier so you are toward the front of the security line. Being first in line does not mean you are going to be first to Cars Land. As we passed through the gate kids surged around us, running (but not running) to get to the rides. We hurried, but walked, and enjoyed most of what Cars Land had to offer without any lines.
2) Radiator Springs Racers may not be running early. The top attraction at Cars Land is Radiator Springs Racers. Most of the Guests headed for that ride first and the line stretched down Route 66. It turned out that this attraction was not open during Extra Magic Hours so these people were standing in line for nothing. I suppose if you wanted to ride Radiator Springs Racers before the line was hours long you could spend your time waiting, but there is a another line you should consider.
3) FASTPASSES for Radiator Springs Racers are not given out until normal park hours. First, the FASTPASS distribution for Radiator Springs Racers is by the entrance to A Bug’s Land, not in Cars Land. Second, they do not pass out FASTPASSES during Extra Magic Hours because all the FASTPASSES would be gone before the park opened for everyone else. However, at 10 o’clock, when the park opened, the line to get FASTPASSES was at least 30 minutes long. If you want to ride Radiator Springs Racers without standing in line for hours then I would send one member of your group to stand in line for the FASTPASSES. Just make sure they get in line before the park opens for the general public. You may have to be in line for 15 minutes, but you’ll save a lot of time in the long run.
Cars Land is awesome, but remember one important thing. It’s not going anywhere. If you don’t get on Radiator Springs Racers it will probably be there the next time you visit. Remember to enjoy the rest of the park and see the magic in the variety of rides. Happiness squared.
