I have a confession to make. I am going to Disneyland in a few days and I am nervous. At first, this makes no sense. I have been to Disneyland dozens of times because I lived nearby as a kid, so I know my way around the parks. I am running in the Disneyland Half-Marathon, but this is my fourth RunDisney race, so I know what to expect there, too. Then why am I nervous? I am worried that my friends and family won’t have the best time ever and it will be my fault.
I love visiting the Disney parks and I do a ton of research to prepare for the trip. I have done the same thing this time, but this trip is filled with complications. Six adults are going, some are family and some are friends. They all know each other, sort of, but they all have different ideas about what makes a great Disney trip. How can I help each of them have the best trip ever? Isn’t that the point of this blog?
I’ve decided I need to set a few rules, two to be exact. Well, maybe they are more like guidelines than rules. With these two guidelines, I can hopefully give everyone in my group the Disney trip that they want, and have a great stress-free time myself.
My two rules guidelines to help my group have a happy Disney trip:
1) Everyone can do their own thing. Everyone in my group is an adult. They all have a cell phone. Even if we all go do something different in six different places we can easily get back together with just a few phone calls. Problem solved.
2) I’m going to have a crazy Disney trip. I love to go on as many rides as possible, and do as much as possible, and spend as much time as possible in the parks. Crazy? Definitely, but it makes me happy and isn’t that the point. Anyone who wants to join in my crazy fun can hang out with me and when they are ready for a break they can take a break. Everyone wins.
Are these guidelines going to work? I have no idea. I think by giving everyone a choice that there may be less arguments and squabbling. That is a good thing. And do you know what is most important? I’M GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!
Goofy Tip: One of the ways I am de-stressing before my trip is to watch some fun Disney movies. What I am watching this week? Cars, of course. I want to refresh my memory of Radiator Springs before I see if for real.
